As much as I enjoy all things pumpkin, I am a big fan of fruit orchards and hence make it a point every fall to visit at least a few apple orchards in Arizona, which has become a tradition of sorts for me.
One thing led to another, and I ended up visiting all these pretty apple orchards in AZ, enjoying picking the fruits surrounded by stunning landscapes of fall foliage.
Most AZ apple orchards also host fun fall activities, primarily catering to families with young children and pets.

TOP APPLE ORCHARDS IN ARIZONA
APPLE ANNIE’S ORCHARD

Apple Annie’s Orchard, located south of Wilcox, an hour from Tucson, is one of the oldest apple orchards in Arizona, providing the best apples since the 1980s.
The orchard is known for the apple pie, but it is also one of the best pumpkin patches in Arizona, spanning 13 acres.
Nestling in the Sulphur Springs Valley, Apple Annie’s has the perfect location and the best conditions, where they have been growing over ten different apple varieties.
Apple harvest season is from late August through October, and you pay for what you pick.
If you visit in August and September, you can participate in their annual Apple Harvest Celebration.
Golden Delicious is the apple that will be ripe during these months, while in late October, you can pick delicious Fuji apples.
I recommend you visit here during weekends in the fall. You will be treated to many family-friendly fun events and fall activities, like pancake breakfasts with delicious apple syrups, signature apple pies, games for kids, and even musical performances.

SLIDE ROCK APPLE ORCHARD

Not many know that one of the best places in Arizona for apple picking is Slide Rock State Park.
Yes, Slide Rock State Park, one of the famous national parks in Arizona known for the stunning Slide Rock trail Sedona leading to gorgeous Slide Rock Pools in Oak Creek Canyon, is also home to a beautiful apple orchard.
The apple trees have been here since 1912, before the establishment of the state park.
After being ignored for decades, the apple orchards in Slide State Park got a revival a few years ago, and now it is one of the best apple orchards in Arizona, home to over 300 apple trees.
September and October are the best months for apple picking here when you have over 13 varieties of apples ripe and ready for picking.

The best way to experience Slide Rock State Park orchard is by taking a tour of the farm machinery, packing shed, old cabins and the farmhouse at the site of the old Pendley homestead.
The apple orchard also hosts a fall festival, the Slide Rock Apple Festival, every October.
I had the chance to attend it last year, and I highly recommend attending if you are here during this time in Sedona, as it is one of the top Sedona fall activities.
Apart from picking your apples, you can also shop for souvenirs and handicrafts at the shops during the fest.
ANGLE ORCHARD

Among the oldest apple orchards in Arizona that should be on your itinerary for sure is this 100-year-old orchard, Angle Orchard.
It is run by the same Angle family since they leased over ten acres of land from the US Forest Service in 1922.
Known for its excellent location amidst the Pinaleno Mountains of Eastern Arizona known for pleasant temperatures year-round, Angle Orchard is a U-pick orchard home to plenty of peaches and over a dozen types of apples, including the rare mountain-grown apples Arkansas Black.
August to October is the best time to visit Angle Orchard for a fantastic experience of apple picking in Arizona.
You can choose to pick from these Gala, Elstar, Fuji and Granny Smiths apples during these months.
For the best peaches, head there between July and early September.

FENWAY PARK ORCHARDS

Fenway Park Orchards is a family-owned farm run by Allen and Carol Way, and if you are looking for one of the top family-friendly apple orchards in Arizona, this should be your best pick.
Located in Morristown, about 60 miles northwest of Phoenix, Fenway Park Orchards boasts more than 2,000 apple trees all grown using organic natural practices, including no use of any chemical pesticides.
Do you know? Fenway Park Orchards is one of the oldest Arizona apple orchards renowned for supplying juicy Anna and Golden Dorset apples for more than 45 years.
They also have a large selection of peaches that you can bring home.
Unlike the other apple orchards in Arizona known for their fall produce, the apples in Fenway Park Orchards are ripe for picking sooner in summer in June and July.
But note that these months may not be as pleasant as picking during the cooler fall months, so I recommend starting early to avoid the scorching heat.
SCHNEPF FARMS

Schnepf Farms, known for its pumpkin patches and fun-packed fall events, is also home to one of the top apple orchards in Arizona.
This East Valley farm, a multi-generational family-owned farm, more than 75 years old, is home to plentiful u-pick gardens that include a variety of fruits and vegetables.
Do you know? Schnepf Farms in Queen Creek east of Mesa, is the largest organic peach exporter in Arizona.
During early summer, most fruits, including delicious apples and peaches, become ripe for picking.
It is the best time to go apple picking here, as they also host many farm festivals during these months, like peach harvesting, theatre shows, classic vehicle shows, and even antique craft fairs.
SEDONA HERITAGE MUSEUM

Briggs and Eggers Orchard was started by Joe and Jean Briggs in 1968, and today this 400-acre orchard is one of the top suppliers of premium apples.
MOTHER’S NATURE FARM

Agritopia Farm is one of the urban farms in Gilbert and also offers a u-pick of apples seasonally. Thanks to its pretty location, it is one of the cute spots for clicking pretty pictures of your kids.
