Does it snow in Arizona? Absolutely yes. Arizona may be one of the most popular states in the United States known chiefly for its rugged desert landscapes, and rock-red mountains, but there are many places where snowfall is a common occurrence in Arizona.

Even the magnificent Grand Canyon National Park transforms into a magical white wonderland during winter, but that is not all.

When I moved to Arizona some years ago, I was dazzled by my first snowfall experience as I had not expected such moments!

Since then, I have made it a ritual to plan as many trips as possible whenever the snow season in Arizona begins.

WHEN DOES IT SNOW IN ARIZONA?

Like the rest of the country, the timing and the amount of snow in Arizona varies throughout the year.

The climate of Arizona is influenced by the high Mountains, Colorado flat-top hills of the mesas, and the Colorado plateau.

As expected, the elevated regions in the state that boast cooler climates during the rest of the year are where snowfall in Arizona occurs.

While it can be scorching hot in Phoenix during summer and pleasantly cool during winter months if you drive just an hour north and up nearly 6,000 feet, you will be treated to pleasantly cool temperatures.

The best time to see snow in Arizona is in the winter, from early December until the end of March, which means you can enjoy a white Christmas in Arizona!

However, in some places, it is common to see snow in October and up to June.
